Just wondering if there was any update on this? I'd also love to be able to use metabox with buddypress x-profile fields. I think these fields are stored in a separate buddypress table but are somehow linked to the main user table as well.
This is the only plugin out there that does it right now and it's a bit dated: https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-xprofile-custom-field-types/
However maybe the code could inspire a MB Buddypress extension? 🙂
