I've tried installing and activating MB Builder 4 or 5 times but the "Meta Boxes" item does not show up on the Dashboard. I don't know what to try next. The installation shows as successful but the item does not appear. From screen shots of other users it looks like it show be near the top after Pages and Comments

    Hi Thomas,

Did you activate the Meta Box plugin first? MB Builder requires Meta Box to work. When it's activated, the "Meta Box" menu will appear below the Settings menu. And it has a sub-menu called "Custom Fields", that's the MB Builder's menu.

PS: The old "Meta Boxes" menu was removed and changed to "Custom Fields" sub-menu.

Thanks for the response. Part of my confusion lies with the expectation that the Plugin name is usually the same name used in the Dashboard Menu. Have you considered changing "Custom Fields" to "MB Builder" in the menu? Also, why is the page labeled "Field Groups" when I click on "Custom Fields"? If these labels were referenced clearly in the documentation it might be helpful as well.

    Thanks

    Hi Thomas,

Sorry for the confusion. Our purpose is moving all extensions' menus into one place ("Meta Box" top-level menu). That keeps everything organized and easy to find.

The reason we named the menu "Custom Fields" is MB Builder is for custom fields only. There are also other extensions that for custom post types and custom taxonomies. When they are activated, you'll see full menu like this:

This post explains the idea of shared menu.

And when we refer to custom fields, naming field groups make sense, since they're a group of fields. It's not groups in MB Group. It simply means a set of custom fields.

I'll update the documentation to make it less confusing.

Thanks a lot for your feedback.
