The checkbox tree is very confusing if there is any type of hierarchy. This was asked years ago but looks like not ever implemented. If the checkbox tree is collapsed, which it is by default, how would someone even know there are children of parents because there is zero indication next to the parent that the tree opens further. It's awful for UX. Is there any way to keep the tree uncollapsed as an option?? I don't see any code and ChatGPT didn't help.
The child item is hidden by default and you need to check the parent item to show the child item. There isn't an option to show the child item as default. Please follow the documentation https://docs.metabox.io/custom-select-checkbox-tree/
