Default Value of unchecked checkbox - Meta Box

Hi, is there a way to set the default value of an unchecked checkbox to "0" when post is created? currently no post meta is created.

I think it has to do with the fact that I'm using a custom frontend form.

I figured that since it uses wp_insert_post() it would work.
