Groups and tabs not working in frontend user profile editing - Meta Box

I'm using this extension to implement user profiles on our site. Works great except groups and tabs. Tabs don't show up at all, and groups show up as a single text field, no sub fields listed underneath it.

The marketing page (https://metabox.io/plugins/mb-user-profile/) says all field types are supported and show images of using groups specifically.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Anh, any info on what may be going on here? Are these fields not implemented into the frontend forms?
