The Meta Box blog contains several articles on the topic of Gutenberg and the Meta Box plugin (such as https://metabox.io/gutenberg-update/ and https://metabox.io/disable-gutenberg-without-using-plugins/). My preference is to use Classic Editor. I usually disable it with the Disable Gutenberg plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/disable-gutenberg/). However, I have recently returned to using Meta Box AIO after a gap, and seeing all the different articles with different updated dates has caused me some confusion, not to mention all the updates and changes to both WordPress and Meta Box AIO.

So, now what I would like to know is as of the recent updates with WordPress 6.8.3: is it still safe to completely disable Gutenberg if I want to use Meta Box AIO for my website?

In other words: will I miss out on any features that Meta Box has specifically for Gutenberg or will I harm my website performance and speed in anyway by opting to use Meta Box AIO and Classic Editor?

    Hello,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Meta Box supports creating custom fields in the admin area to allow users to input value and output the value in the frontend. So you can use any editor: Classic or Block (Gutenberg) and Meta Box on your site. All main features are the same when you use the Classic editor.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you. I tested it out again and it works flawlessly with Classic Editor. This time I tried your Falcon plugin to disable Gutenberg and the performance is really great so far.

My only remaining question about this topic is: do you have plans to also make Meta Box AIO compatible with ClassicPress (the WordPress fork)? It is a very good fork of WordPress that does not have Gutenberg at all and is in some ways superior with more semantic code as well as a built in object relationship system. MetaBox + ClassicPress would be a great combination if possible.

    Hello,

I'm afraid that currently we don't have a plan to support ClassicPress. You can use the plugin Classic Editor to have a similar feature when editing a post.

    Thanks.
