    When I change Permalink settings to use something like:

    http://app.com/%category%/%post_id%/

    It never uses the Post ID, and is always using the Post Title or %postname%

    I'm pretty sure this is because of how Custom Post Types work. But if anyone has a solid explanation, please educate me! 🙂 Thanks!

    Hi,

    For custom post types, you have to write your own rewrite tags and make it works. In this case, you need 2 custom rewrite tags: %category% and %post_id%. See this answer for details:
