    Would be very helpful if there's a way to set post_fields (title, description, excerpt, thumbnail) to required (optional).

    They only way I can see, is to add the required attribute via javascript.

    With the new filter in the version 1.1, you're now able to do that :). Please see the updated documentation for more details.
