I'm developing a WordPress website (countrycamper.com.au) using a Bold Theme template. I noticed that the site is running very slowly and when I disable the Metabox plugin, things speed up.

With the Metabox plugin enabled, if I open the media library, I see lots of '404' errors for each thumbnail it's trying to load. Disable Metabox and the whole things run just fine.

Same behaviour if I load a Page in admin mode with a Metabox form at the bottom.

Any ideas about what could be causing the problem? It seems linked to the Metabox plugin.

    Hi Paul,

Please enable WP Debug to see if there is an error log on your site
    https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/

Or you can use the plugin Query Monitor and share some screenshots in the admin area https://wordpress.org/plugins/query-monitor/

This is also an issue for me, especially when I have user front end forms enabled or user profile editor. I've even gone so far as you trying tool set but wasn't impressed. However, I am beginning to look at alternatives that seem to be less demanding than metabox yet more powerful.

    Hi Paul,

Can you please deactivate all plugins except Meta Box, MB extensions, Query Monitor and switch to the standard theme of WordPress (Twenty TwentyTwo) then re-check this issue?
I see some PHP notice errors and slow queries from other plugins and the theme on your site, they might cause this issue.

    Hi Paul,

So you can see that activating the Meta Box plugin does not cause the slow-down issue. It might come from another one. For your live site, you can share your site credentials via the contact form https://metabox.io/contact/
I will help you to check the issue.

    Hi Paul,

Please check two screenshots before and after I deactivate all plugins except Meta Box and switch to the standard theme of WordPress (Twenty TwentyTwo). The slowdown issue looks resolved.
