Are there ways with Meta to create hard coded Facet type filters and page update?
Any resources on how to do that?
Regards,
-John
Hi there,
These things are custom code so you should hire a developer to create a filter like Facet and Meta Box integrator.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Long,
I purchased a LTD licence from you. I put down significant money and faith in your product based on other people's recommendations.
Without any desire to personally offend you (but maybe that's not going to be possible), as a paying customer, this is truly a "copout" answer. Any provider that gives me that answer "out of hand" not as you have done here loses my respect and support. When you give an answer like that you disrespect me as a customer. You are saying (between the lines without even knowing me) "You aren't smart or skilled enough to tackle this yourself. This is too far above you to try and do." You don't even know me or my skill level. You make the assumption that since I asked if your product had the ability or if you could reference any resources, I don't know anything. That's what the kind of answer you gave says.
Although I would NEVER expect you to write code specifically for my project(s), I would expect some discussion of what would be involved at a high level at the very least. I would expect some references to the resources that discuss what it involved and what might be necessary to perform the task. I would expect that you as a developer and a provider would at the very least acknowledge that this is something you product does not at this time provide any resources for and at minimum entertain that there may a need for such a feature set.
I have a lifetime developer's licence from ACF as well and although I would never expect them to write my code for me, do have some high level solutions for such a request and they were willing to reference resources in their own offerings as well as some possible others, that lead to a possible solution should I choose to pursue it.
At the end of the day, if you don't have the ability to supply anything to help in your own codebase, you just say so. Don't patronize me. From what I have seen from the rest of your code, this answer you gave is below you.
It's up to me as a client to decide if I need outside help and if I choose to continue using your codebase as a starting point - not yours.
I am quite angry at your reply. I feel prejudged and demeaned as a customer.
If a refund is / were possible at this point of my very first and only support request to date, I would gladly take it. If that is possible, please let me know.
Thank you,
-John
Hi John,
I'm very sorry for what you feel. Long didn't give enough information on the answer, but he didn't mean to be rude.
Regarding to your question, if I understand correctly, you want to build a custom filter for Facet using Meta Box. Is that correct? I'm not sure if that's right when you say "hard coded".
Just FYI, the integration with Meta Box and Facet allows you to use Facet to create your own filters based on custom fields created with Meta Box. I think Facet has a good collection of filter types (checkboxes, radio, select) and the data sources. What we did in the integration is adding Meta Box fields as a data source for Facet, which will allow you to use them to filter posts later.
I'm not sure how to write custom filter for Facet, cause that's not what we do with the integration. I also look at Facet docs, and the only resource I found is the facetwp_facet_types
hook, which probably the right hook you want to use to add more filter type:
https://facetwp.com/documentation/developers/advanced/facetwp_facet_types/
If I don't understand your question correctly, please clarify it. I'll try my best to help. And if you're not happy with the product, I can issue a refund without any problem.
