I'm building a quite complex custom content type and I would need a very minimalistic editor for the Textareas. The bare-bones textarea field is not enough, I would need to make text bold, italic and add links at least.What would be the be the best option for this?
I tried the WYSIWYG field, looks a bit overkill, I would need to reduce its footprint somehow. Also text mode looks broken: https://imgur.com/a/KB42iNf The columns.css overwrites the button widths. Looks like this is a Meta Box induced problem.
Please advise,

Thanks for your feedback.
I've escalated this issue to the development team to fix this in the next update. For now, you can use the field WYSIWYG without columns to avoid this issue.

Is there a way to customize the editor's feature set? I'd like to make it include only the most important editing features, and customize the default height.

On another note, is it possible to have an image upload field that looks exactly like the Image Upload filed, (with the drag and drop feature, and nice layout), but have the option to select an image from the Media Library too?

There is no image upload field like that. You can create your own image field by following this documentation https://docs.metabox.io/custom-field-type/

Looks like I can't add any feature suggestions from there, but in the first card it says you take feature suggestions through email and this support forum too...Would you mind creating a feature suggestion for an image field that takes image uploads by drag and drop and from the media library too (all in one), with the suggested looks of the standard image upload field.
