When you inspect the input element you can see the License, is this how it is suposed to work? <input required="" class="regular-text" name="meta_box_updater[api_key]" value="XXXXXXXXXXX" type="password">

Thanks for your feedback. I've been thinking about this, too. Probably I'll replace the value with *** when the license is valid.
I think that would be best.
