Support Forum
Hi Metabox,
I want to add a search box at the top of a specific archive. The archive is of an CPT event. I thought to add a shortcode to the top of the archive page. So I selected 'Only the post content area' and 'before the post content' settings. As a rule I added Archive and Event Archive. However, it does not display the search box. So I thought to replace the shortcode with just text to see if it displays. It doesn't though. Is this a bug, because for other locations it just works. Not with the archive locations though.
Please advice. Kind regards, Henri
Hi Henri,
To add the search box on the archive CPT page, you should choose Render for: The whole page layout, including header and footer
or The layout between header and footer
.
Refer to this topic https://support.metabox.io/topic/tag-archive-my-view-gets-ignored-when-rendering-only-the-post-content-area/
Hi Long,
thanks for the reply. I watched your video on the other support post. I understand that when I choose to replace the content with the setting 'Only the post content area' it would replace all the content of each article on the Archive post. I understand this. So this can't be used to add content above the archive.
However, when I do this on my website with Kadence Theme installed, I would expect that the excerpt of each article would be gone of each item on the archive page and replaced by the text I added to the MB view. Nothing happens though. See my recording here of what I mean: https://share.getcloudapp.com/OAuPGzEO
Kind regards, Henri
Hi Henri,
Can you please switch to another theme (Twenty TwentyOne) and re-check the issue?
Hi Long,
just did. The theme change doesn't affect the issue. It is still not working. I even deactivated all other plugins except for the metabox plugins and WPVividStaging. And it is still not working as you describe it would. So there must be something else wrong, I guess.
Hi,
For the next step of troubleshooting the issue, please share your site credentials via this contact form https://metabox.io/contact/, I will take a closer look.
Hi Long,
Thanks for your offer, but I can't provide access at the moment to the website I'm working on. I've just created a fresh website and there it works like you said. So there is something wrong with the website setup I'm working on. I'll get to it later this month and see if I can share some credentials. I'll contact you then via the email address you pointed out.
Kind regards, Henri
